PORTABLE HOT TUBS

The portable hot tub is a modern convenience we some days cannot live without. This is a truly self contained unit that can be installed inside or outdoors. For outdoor use you need only a concrete slab for support and an electrical source.

Portable hot tubs come in a variety of sizes ranging from those which hold only 2 people, all the way up to eight. Smaller units can be lifted carefully without heavy machinery because their weight without water averages around 500 pounds. If you prefer to install it indoors they are usually shallow enough to fit through doorways.

Once big advantage to a portable hot tub is they are treated more as an appliance than a house improvement so your property taxes don't go up and you don't need a building permit.

The accessories are smaller in size also. Each piece (pump, filter, blower and jets) are scaled back in accordance with the amount of water being used.

Always check with the manufacturers paperwork about how much power the hot tub requires. Most are set to run on 120 volt outlets, but some require more. It's also best to use this on its own fuse to prevent overloading any fuses or circuits in your home.

The fully contained unit is surrounded by a wood covering or skirt in order to hide the plumbing underneath. There is a small door in the covering to allow access to all pipes and other supporting equipment.

What if you want one of the portable hot tubs but still want it to look built in? You're in luck. You can install it as an inground unit so its top surface is flush with the decking or surrounding site. Be sure you have a solid foundation, enough room for all hot tub parts. You'll have to leave space between the hot tub walls and the foundation walls according to building codes. Any deck installed around the hot tub should leave room and a door so you'll still have access to the hot tub plumbing for regular maintenance issues.
