HOT TUB COVERS
If you have a
hot cover, keeping it covered is very important for several
reasons. The obvious one is safety. You don't want your small
children climbing or falling into the water and getting hurt. Hot
tub covers also help to keep the water heat from evaporating. For
outdoor hot tubs you need a cover to keep dirt, debris, and snow
out of the tub area.
Hot tub covers come on several styles. Some of the most popular
are
- aluminum - for situations requiring strength and extreme
durability (such as children climbing on it, the weight of snow,
etc)
- rolling covers - when you don't want to manually lift it off
the tub, you can instead roll it away. Great for those who have
trouble lifting.
- insulating covers - really keeps the heat in. This is usually
the most popular option.
Aluminum hot tub covers are also very strong, and will hold
around 1000 pounds, which would include children, dogs, something
falling on it, and so on.
When purchasing your new cover you need to be sure it will fit
your size of hot tub. You will need to carefully measure your tub
to get the perfect size. If you need it to cover both the
fiberglass tub shell and the wooden skirt area you'll want to
measure from the outside of the wood skirt so it covers everything.
Some people only have it cover the shell portion. This is really a
matter of personal preference, quality is the same for either
sizing option.
If you have an octagon or other oddly shaped tub you'll need to
measure all sides in case any are different from the others. They
must all be exactly the same for it to be a true octagon. This is
important for the perfect fit. To make it easiest on you and the
dealer make a top down drawing and write the numbers for each side
length and the total length of each side.
